FAQ
1) How long is your program?
We offer services on an annual basis. Students can stay as long as they need in order to reach their goals. We also offer a transition plan so that the students can live independently when they leave our program.
2) What do you expect the student to be able to do when they complete the Options for College Success program?
We expect them to have acquired skills for independent living and to be qualified to obtain a job in the field they selected.
3) How is this program funded?
Options for College Success is incorporated as a not for profit organization. We are a 501(c)(3) organization. Currently, we have no outside sources of funding. However, we are applying for grants and private funding. Please contact us if you would like further information. Our students can apply for college loans to cover certain expenses related to attending college. The student may also be able to use medical insurance to cover other costs.
4) Must a student live in the apartments?
We have day and residential students. A residential student lives in our apartments and participates in all areas of our program.
5) What is meant by tuition and costs?
Students pay to receive our services. There are also the additional costs of tuition at college or school the student is attending, apartment rent, utilities, transportation, groceries, laundry, and spending money.
6) Is there 24 hour supervision?
We do not offer 24 hour supervision. We do have a resident adviser living in the same apartment building with the students. Other staff are also available.
7) What if my student does not want to attend college? Are there any other options or opportunities?
If college is not your choice, we can offer opportunities in the form of internships in Evanston and the Chicagoland area. This will help your student choose a career he or she would like to pursue. They can also learn the skills needed for the job and what is expected of him by the employer. We offer intensive support through this process.
